Triumph for Ricardo Walther – ITTF Croatian open

Victories on the ITTF World tour a player rarely forgets. Winning the title stays present even longer, but never will a player forget his or hers first World tour title!

So the ITTF Croatian Open is something Walther will never leave behind. He won the Finals match against Japanese Player Masaki Yoshida with 4:3 – looked to the sky with a sigh of relief – Done!

The 30.000 Euro tournament in Croatia did not start out easy for the 22 year old. He had to overcome Ewout Oostwouder from Holland (4:0), French Champion Stephane Ouiache (4:0), Alvaro Robiles from Spain (4:1) and polish Player Jakub Dyjas (4:1), before facing Tonin Ryuzaki from Japan in the Semi-finals. That match was 4:1 as well for the World ranked 113 player Ricardo Walther.

In the finals against Japans Masaki Yoshida, Walther at first trailed behind, 1:2 then 2:3 in games. He even had to save two match points at 10:8, before securing the sixth game with 16:14 and breaking the spirits of his opponent. The 7th game went easily to Walther, completing his triumph and the first international title of his career. Congratulations!
